Tommy's Story

Tommy is unlike anyone else you will ever meet - it's cliche to say that, I know, but in this case it could not be more true. Tommy's story is one that is hard to tell without going into detail because their are so many unique experiences he has had in his life that have shaped the person he is today. I guess if you had a 'highlights' reel of Tommy's life, the main points would be that he was forced into adulthood at an early age when his mother passed away. At a young age Tommy found himself incarcerated and ultimately served over 30 years in prison. He was the first Virginia prisoner to be transferred out of state after he witness the only death row escape and cultivated a prison army that revolted against the guards. After transferring from Virginia, to New Mexico, to Connecticut and going before the parole board over 10 times he was eventually granted parole which he was told would never happen. Since being released from prison over 10 years ago, Tommy has dedicated himself to making the community a better and safer place for everyone - specifically the youth living in Highland Park. He has been released from parole supervision and continues to feel lucky every single day for his journey and his freedom. Want to know more?
